Field of Activity: Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and Pain Center
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in Central Sweden. There is always something happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
VO Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Pain Center consists of four sections: Health Professions, Geriatrics, Pain Center, and Rehabilitation Medicine. All sections are characterized by well-functioning interprofessional collaboration, something we are very proud of. We want you to feel welcome with us; as a newcomer, you will be offered guidance, an introductory program, and a professional network. We are experts in rehabilitation but always strive to become even better. A significant focus on research and progress, both within and outside the hospital, is part of this. As an employee, you are an important part of this; it is natural for you to want to develop and drive the operations forward.
We are now looking for you, a licensed occupational therapist, who wants to work with us in the health professions department within geriatrics. The placement is within the inpatient care of geriatrics and is distributed across two departments with close collaboration, which means close collegial exchange and support.
Your Mission
You will work with occupational therapy assessment and treatment based on the occupational therapy process. Your primary placement will be in the ortogeriatric department 30B, but you will also be introduced to geriatric acute care. In the department, you will be one of two occupational therapists and part of a skilled health professional team consisting of physiotherapists, dietitians, and social workers who support and help each other while you will also work independently. You have an important task to investigate, initiate rehabilitation, and report further to the next level of care. Together with the team, you will assess and train the patient's activity and functional ability as well as cognition. Testing and prescribing assistive devices are also part of your tasks.
The geriatrics department provides broad care and treatment that spans from acute management to rehabilitation and discharge planning. Here, older patients over 65 years are treated, often with multiple underlying diseases. In the ortogeriatric department, patients are treated after orthopedic surgery, both elective and trauma surgery, as well as vascular surgery.
The work will also involve close contact with patients and their relatives, staff, and other partners, which places high demands on collaboration skills, responsiveness, and flexibility. As we are a university hospital, it is part of all positions to supervise our future colleagues who are in training.
Your Competence
We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist. If you have previous experience working in geriatrics or orthopedics, it is something we value, but we also welcome you who are newly graduated. We offer, for example, individual clinical supervision.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. You should have a good ability to collaborate unconditionally with different professions, good organizational skills, the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing, and an interest in development work. You should feel comfortable making independent decisions and prioritizing tasks.
We Offer
We offer a permanent position at 100% with a start date according to agreement. As an occupational therapist with us, you will be part of a professional network at the hospital and have opportunities for further development both internally and externally. A probationary period may be applied.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
